Immigration demonstrations
I guess I don't understand and correct me if I'm wrong.
I have no problem with immigrants - I'm not a Native Canadian (well, family mythology has it that an ancestor *was* Native, but that's beside the point) so I'm decended from immigrants.
What I'm having a problem with, in the States, is *illegal* immigrants protesting that they should have all the rights of citizens. You know what? NO, you shouldn't! You're ILLEGAL! I understand why you came across - better life, safer, health reasons, better education... but... you're ILLEGAL! You should in NO way have all the rights of a citizen. You want rights? Immigrate legally! Why should you have all the same rights and priveleges that people who follow the rules do?
The answer? You shouldn't! You're illegal, you chose to cross illegally, so you have to deal with all the consequences that brings. I feel sorry for some of these people, I do. They're hardworking, decent people looking for a better life. Which is fine. But don't expect me to welcome you with open arms when I have friends who've been trying to get here for years and can't, because they follow the rules.
